Reviews and Ratings
The hotel has a quirky old 'Vehicles' themed decoration and offers beautiful views over the North Yorkshire Dales. The rooms, despite being small as expected in this countryside property, had extremely squeaky floorboards and were smokey despite being non-smoking, impacting the room quality. The dining experience was superb, but the lack of proper explanation for an additional charge was disappointing.
The hotel had clean rooms with facilities for making drinks, but overall, they appeared dated, shabby, and had an unpleasant smell. The service was welcoming and friendly, although there were some areas that needed improvement. The dining experience was mixed, with some meals being very good while others fell short. Despite its flaws, the hotel provided a cozy setting with a roaring fire and unique decor in the bar area.
I absolutely loved the convenience of having a ground floor room, perfect for my dog, with excellent internet access, a walk-in shower, fresh towels daily, and a nice touch of tea and coffee in the room. The view over the fells was simply breathtaking. However, I felt the hotel needs updating and might not fully live up to its 4-star status. Being a bit isolated in the wilderness could be a bit unsettling, especially for nighttime arrivals.
